the painting crew....

we swooped in like a flock of birds,
landed and grabbed paintbrushes.
for six straight, non stop hours we
painted.

the whole house needs it so we just
went from room to room, spot to spot
and rotated and moved and crawled
over each other.

i was in the kitchen washing a brush
at one point wondering how come it was
that we could pull off all that time
together workin' hard, tryin' to get
this done without anyone gettin' on
anyone else's nerves. there was no grumbling,
not any snide comments, no tension at all.
nothing but good spirits.

i got to thinking how cool it was that no
one told the other one how to do anything.
there was no 'way to do it.' everyone just
dug in.

there was advice asking from each of us.
we'd step back and say 'what do you think of
this here?' 'would this be good?'
and then people would head over and give their
opinions, a general consensus was agreed on,
and it was done.

'do you want to do over here? or should i?'
'you okay with gettin' the hallway while i get
the dining room?'

this kinda stuff......

it was so cool.

so i washed that brush and thought about it all.
yo wandered in.
'yo, have you noticed how nice we all work together?
how there hasn't been one problem?'

he said yeah, it really helped that no one had a set
way of doin' anything and that we all respected each
other.

yeah.
that really helped.

and wow.
that's pretty awesome cool.

zakk at one point said the music was too loud and
i turned around and looked at him wide eyed. told
him that i wasn't even gonna mention bringing music
because i loved to hear everyone chatting. and i knew
sooner or later, he'd figure out to bring it and turn
it up loud.

turns out josh figured out to bring it and turn it up
loud.

zakk said 'no, i like to hear everyone. i like to know
where everyone is and what they're doin'. it's my control
freak nature.'

i laughed.
the music was turned off and we all talked....

it was great.
what a nite.
what a team.
what a family.

i'm one lucky mama.
