crazed

josh just called.
he told me a story that got me crazy.
he's got a new student coming in next
week. a nine year old.
he's been playing guitar since he was 2.
his old guitar teacher just told him
that 'he sucked.'

yeah.

yeah.

yeah.

apparently he went home and put his
guitar in the closet and hasn't played
since.

well, let me tell you, his mom found
the right guy in josh. josh will help heal
that wound like no one else can. i know that.
and i'm so grateful for that.

and i'm so upset.

and i know why.
beyond the obvious.
this story would have upset me no matter what.

but throw this story on top of it...

a young 18 year old girl had a dream that she
was gonna play the violin. she worked her butt
off practicing and trying to become the best she
could be. i mean, she worked hard. hours and hours
and hours and hours and hours every day.

turns out her violin teacher told her she sucked.
only i guess he screamed it at her over and over
again.

she eventually put her violin in her closet and
killed herself.

there's more to the story. more reasons, i believe,
that she did what she did. but that was a huge
part of it.

a huge part of it.

when will we see the power we have over people
and use it to heal and to help?

why do we tear down and hurt and kill with our
words????

why do we do that????

next time you go to say something negative....
don't.
ya know?
just don't.

there's more power behind it than you realize.....

Some people
know the power of words
and use them with
destructive glee
because they foolishly believe
that by lowering me
they raise themselves up.
They can not allow anyone to be better
than them
there is the poison
in that well of words.
(((((terri))))))

Teaching the little guy to play the guitar will be a smart part of Josh's job. Teaching him to believe first in himself, then in others will be the real and most important lesson.

Josh rocks! I can't wait to hear the kid in Carnegie Hall or Nashville or wherever young guitarists and their teachers like to play.

My humble prayer is that there is a sweet young lady playing first violin in the heavenly orchestra.
