talent shows

i was doin' the dishes while josh filled me in
on his nite.

he was at a middle school talent show band
rehearsal. one of his students is in a talent
show, and josh is gonna be his rhythm guitarist.
it's so sweet.

interestingly enough, while josh is the boy's
guitar teacher, the actual middle school teacher
is an old band mate of josh's. he is also backing
up the student on bass.

josh and this other guy used to play dive bars together.

so, josh is fillin' me in, i'm laughin and washin'
dishes.

apparently the middle school teacher started
coachin' the boys on playin' to the crowd and relayed
stories of josh runnin' thru the crowd and hoppin' up
on the bar playin' his guitar.

yep.
that's my baby.

i'm grinnin' away.

then josh tells me he's been jumpin' all around
in the rehearsal with the kids and apologetically
tells them 'don't worry, i won't jump so much when
you play for real.'

i start laughing.
did these kids know what they were getting into???

and then.....
he tells me that he's tryin' to pscyh them up to
play to the crowd. he figures he can get them
all psyched if they imagine a really cute (oh sorry...
i mean 'hot' ) girl sittin' over here and one over
here and one over here.....

so he grabs a chair, holds it up and says, 'okay,
let's imagine this is samantha.'

one of the boys in the band asks: 'my sister??'

i burst out laughing.

josh tells me he pauses and says 'okay, we need
a different name.'

i am bent over the sink at this point.

someone says 'beth!'
josh says, nooooo that's your mom's name.'

at this point i'm stampin' my foot laughing.

ohmygosh......

there is absolutely no other species quite like
guys!

i am so glad i have them in my life.
and let me tell ya, i am NOT missin' this talent
show for anything!
