unexpected star light

i woke up early.
before the alarm clock.
opened my eyes and looked around my dark room.

i thought about being all alone in that room.
and i smiled.
i'm not really all alone, i thought.

and as i was thinking about that, my eyes
landed on a tiny little glow of a light.
a little star.

no kidding.
talk about timing.

i stopped thinking and started staring.
it almost looked like my candle was just a
wee bit lit. but i knew it wasn't. so i lay
there and looked at it.

tilted my head in different ways.
you could only see it if you looked from a
certain angle. but when you did, it was bright
as can be.

no, i didn't figure out what it was.
i just smiled and enjoyed it.
decided i'd better get moving....
turned my light on and headed over to the bathroom.

and there...in the bathroom was a tiny red
foily piece of something that had fallen against
the floor. it made a tiny red star glow on my wall.

i couldn't believe it.

another star.
just shining there so bright.

i smiled.
this must be the day of unexpected starlight, i thought.

and then i smiled.......
what an incredible day that sounds like!

came down to a note.
a friend is back in town.
coffee today?
oh no.
i can't.
i can't.
and then i thought of the unexpected starlight.

okay.
grin.
i can.
just for a quick cup of coffee....
it doesn't take long to touch the star light...
you just have to be sure to open to it.
and i know my friend is just that for me...
starlight.
i could use all of that i can get right now.

i think it's gonna be one heck of a beautiful day!
